If you’re planning to sell or give away your Apple device, it’s crucial to remove all your personal data from it. Before you do that, make sure to back up your device to iCloud or iTunes, so you can transfer your data to your new device. Here’s how to remove your accounts from your Apple device before selling them.
Step 1: Sign Out of iCloud
The first thing you need to do is sign out of iCloud. To do that, go to Settings > Your Name > iCloud. Scroll down to the bottom and tap Sign Out. You’ll be asked if you want to keep a copy of your iCloud data on this iPhone/iPad/iPod. If you want to keep a copy of your data, make sure to select “Keep a Copy.” If you don’t want to keep a copy, tap “Sign Out.”
Step 2: Sign Out of iTunes & App Store
Next, sign out of iTunes & App Store. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Tap on your Apple ID and then tap “Sign Out.”
Step 3: Erase All Content and Settings
Now, it’s time to erase all content and settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. If you have a passcode enabled, you’ll be prompted to enter it. Then tap “Erase iPhone/iPad/iPod.”
Step 4: Remove Device From Your Apple Account
The final step is to remove the device from your Apple account. Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. Scroll down to the Devices section and select the device you want to remove. Click on “Remove from Account.”
And that’s it! Your personal data has been removed from your Apple device, and you can safely sell or give it away. Make sure to include these steps in your device selling process.
